What is Bursitis?

by | Dec 9, 2021 | Injuries and Conditions | 0 comments

People often get diagnosed with bursitis as a cause for their injury. In this picture we demonstrate what a bursitis looks like from an ultrasound perspective. Bursa are commonly found around joints and associated tendons to allow gliding of tissues during joint movement. Bursa are not normally visible. However, sometimes due to repetitive joint strain injury or direct trauma the bursa can become inflamed and enlarge and are then visible on investigations. A typical bursitis normally has a well defined border with internal simple fluid and normally has some compressible. However, this is not typical of all bursae. In recalcitrant cases, a steroid injection maybe indicated to settle the bursitis. For further information contact ECP >>
