Groin Strain

by | Dec 9, 2021 | Injuries and Conditions | 0 comments

Groin strains are very common in multi-directional sports, such as football, particularly at the start of a football season. Some of the risk factors are multi-directional movements and sudden increase in tissue loading, especially at the start of a football season.

In this figure we demonstrate, the common adductor tendon, which has tendon defects at its insertion onto the pubis, consistent with a  tendon strain injury – causing this player to be side lined for 6 weeks. Commonly, these injuries settle with appropriate treatment and loading a programme. In multi-directional sports and in young players, a differential diagnosis may be a sporting hip groin or gilmores groin, if the symptoms do not settle with conservative management.
